Булгары – это тюркоязычные всадники, перенявшие южнославянский язык завоеванного народа, который, в свою очередь, стал называть себя болгарами. Слова «серб» и «хорват» изначально были скифскими этнонимами. Венгры – уникальный случай – сохранили свое название (мадьяры) и свой степной язык, хоть и живут теперь в самом центре Европы.
